Most Futon mattresses today are made from cotton stuffing and synthetic, polyester based foam cores. Petrochemical foams are known to off-gas a whole list of toxins into the sleeping environment. In addition, although cotton is a natural material, standard cotton used in bedding is grown using thousands of tons of pesticides, and synthetic fertilizers.
Our Eco-Rest futon is all organic, all natural. What that means is the cotton stuffing and external cover is made without the use of petrochemical fertilizers or pesticides. This results in an organic, all natural mattress that not only feels great and offers great comforts, but that is actually good for you.
No synthetic foam cores, no pesticide treated cotton stuffing, no polyester shells.

In designing this unique, high quality futon we take the great features of the traditional futon, and add a 2 inch latex core.We use the same all natural, Talay latex that is found in our Naturalpedic Latex Mattress line, which is an all natural form of foam rubber created from the sap of the Asian Rubber Tree. This natural foam material does not off gas toxic gasses into the sleeping environment as do synthetic foams used in most futons.
In addition, Latex increases comfort and durability for our futon mattresses, effectively tripling the life expectancy over normal polyester foam core futons, to 15-18 years of regular use. Surrounding this latex core we place 4 inches of the highest quality, softest, organic cotton batting, and wrap the whole package in a luxurious 100% cotton cover quilted with a layer of wool for extra comfort. The quilted cotton with the organic wool layer provides a natural deterrent to dust-mites, as well as being naturally flame retardant. What this means is that our EcoRest futon meets the federal flammability bedding requirements without the use of synthetic materials or toxic flame-retardant coatings found in most other beds.
The real benefit of this unique design is that he EcoRest futon offers the comfortable firmness of a traditional futon mattress with one noticeable difference. The latex gives the cotton batting a very slight give or flex, creating what can only be called an amazing sleeping sensation. Luxurious, healthy comfort at its best.
Our EcoRest futons come in two styles. One features a 2-inch latex core, surrounded by 100% organic cotton stuffing, wrapped in a European all organic, satin cotton/wool shell. The second available by special order features 100% organic stuffing, wrapped in the same luxurious satin cotton/wool covering.
