The unique look of the Issa Platform bed was designed by keeping the bed frame close to the ground, 13 3/4” while at the same time raising the headboard to 40” providing a contrast with the lower bed platform. This offers a simple, graceful design that creates a sense of ease and relaxation, as well as providing a great support to rest against for late night reading or midday relaxing. In addition, the headboard slats feature a slight backward curve, a distinctive feature often found in Oriental Furniture design, breaking the straight boxy lines found in so much big box store furniture today.
Issa, a famous Japanese Haiku Poet from the 18th century, was known for his affection of natural forms, colors, and beautiful poetry. We have named our contemporary platform bed in his honor, confident that he would appreciate its simple, straightforward, functional design.
Manufactured from solid hardwood, and wood veneer construction, the Issa bed is available in three distinct finishes, a warm Cappuccino, a natural Beechwood, or rich Cherry finish. The bed also features a solid wood slat platform upon which the mattress is placed. No need for a box spring as the mattress sets directly upon the slats.
