It's a matter of time
We never seem to have enough time on our hands and the concept isn't a new one. Mankind has been measuring the passage of time for thousands of years. One of the earliest clocks ever discovered was the incense clock, pictured above, a Chinese timekeeping device invented during the Song Dynasty (960-1279). The clock had stylized metal incense holders that measured minutes, hours and days, depending on how quickly the incense burned and fell. The clock also contained bells and gongs that acted as strikers. Incense clocks were commonly used in homes and temples. The clock at left is an ancient Chinese incense clock.
